Digital Dentures: Are they ready for Prime Time?

Abstract:
CAD/CAM technology in removable prosthodontics is not a new field. Several companies have introduced a plethora of systems and products in the market, making the field somehow confusing. Advancements in the field of digital denture technology will be presented, guiding the participant through our private practice’s experiences, over the past 10 years. Several clinical protocols will be discussed as well as challenges that one can expect to face, as they get involved in this very exciting and promising field. The freedom in outsourcing some of the required steps, might present an opportunity for a clinician to consider incorporating the technology in their practice with minimal capital investment. Applications in implant restorations, will also be discussed. Finally an attempt will be made to look into what the future might bring, through an old fashioned, but hopefully accurate crystal ball.
