SUMMARY
In everyday clinical practice, we face a wide spectrum of endodontic cases with variable levels of difficulty that challenge our skills and test our patience and confidence. Technical difficulties during treatment may result in iatrogenic mishaps, compromise the overall quality of treatment and in turn its long-term outcome. At the same time, the often-overlooked biological challenges of controlling the infection of the root canal system, influence the chance of success, potentially leading to persistent symptoms, compromised periapical healing and even tooth extraction. Recognising these challenges, the endodontic community has worked towards developing criteria and algorithms that may help the clinicians to decipher the challenges of each case and to inform patients of the risks and expected prognoses in a timely manner. The aim of this webinar is to present the most frequent clinical challenges, through an illustrative case series representative of various complex clinical scenarios, and to describe techniques and strategies to overcome them. The suggested clinical approaches are derived from the most important prognostic factors, to optimise the healing outcome of treatment.
