The effect of dental dam isolation on infection control

Abstract:
There are several studies pointing out the reduction in bacterial contamination and aerosol spraying when rubber dam is used. Taking into consideration the recent guidelines of working in the pandemic era we will highlight the rubber dam usage in several situations. We will present Coltene‘s clamps and dental dams, pointing out the advantages of using them in, and what to use when. Some extra tips on what to use in each situation and minor guidelines on rubber dam placement. Moreover, maintenance guidelines of the equipment will be added and presentation of specific clinical cases.
