Digital Technologies and Complete Dentures: a Rationale for the Daily Practice 

Abstract:

It is undeniable that, in the last decades, digital technologies have offered new perspectives in communication, sharing, acquisition, design and manufacturing processes; in particular, the digital realm today offers a considerable reduction in operating times and surgical aggressiveness, together with better comfort for the patient and a significant complications reduction.
In Dentistry, the digital realm has entered all fields of application, from the design and planning phase to prototyping; from implant surgery to the production of customized dental devices, in particular thanks to CAD/CAM technologies, not to mention 3D-printing of resinous and ceramic materials. Recently, the attention of clinicians and researchers has been increasingly focused on the implementation of digital procedures in Removable Prosthodontics, in particular on the topic of complete dentures, thanks to a series of advantages, from the reduction of production times to the high mechanical performance of milled PMMA. The Author will talk about the state-of-art of the digital workflow for the realization of removable complete dentures, in the light of his clinical experience and of the latest scientific data.
